Nutley Hall boosts its renewables

With the support of Forest Row Energy, Nutley Hall has taken another big step in reducing its carbon emissions by installing solar PV on buildings throughout its estate.

The much-valued living and working community based in Nutley provides residential care and support for people with learning disabilities. It already heats its buildings with a carbon neutral biomass district heating system and purchases its electricity through a provider that supplies renewable energy to the national grid. With the help of Forest Row Energy, Nutley Hall have now installed solar PV on two of their buildings with one more to come in 2022.

Our Executive Director, Esme Donghi, worked with Nutley Hall to assess their energy demand, the most suitable size solar installation, calculated projected savings and found the best deal with local suppliers. So far, 14 kWp of solar PV has been installed which is expected save Nutley Hall more than £50,000 over the lifetime of the penels. A rapid charger for their electric vehicle was also installed so that excess solar energy can be used for carbon free car travel.

Raz Levy, General Manager at Nutley Hall said ‘We are delighted with our new solar panels and are already starting to see savings. Sustainability is an important part of our ethos and we also see the business sense in making the investment. Forest Row Energy have helped us to make the best choices for how much solar PV to install on which buildings and found us a supplier that gave us excellent value for money and service.
