The Forest Row Energy Cooperative celebrated its 10th anniversary at its Annual General Meeting (AGM) on November 28, 2024, marking a milestone in its mission to empower the community with renewable energy solutions. The evening, held at the Forest Row Community Centre, featured updates on the cooperative’s achievements, including securing over £150,000 in grants and completing projects like a solar array installation at the parish office. Directors highlighted ambitious plans for 2025, including hiring a program manager to lead funding and outreach efforts, ensuring the cooperative can scale its impact further.
A key highlight was the Community Energy Conversation, which followed the AGM. Twelve panellists shared their insights, from securing grants for retrofits to scaling solar and heat pump projects across Sussex. Residents were inspired by stories of eco-homes, microgrid solutions, and local investment schemes designed to make renewable energy accessible and impactful. Discussions also emphasised the importance of engaging the next generation and addressing fuel poverty through tailored advice and education.
