Goodbye heating oil, hello renewables!

Do you care about the environment but still heat your home using oil? If you would like to heat your home with renewable energy but have been put off by the cost or time to make the change, Forest Row Energy can help you.
Forest Row Energy have been awarded a grant from the Rural Community Energy Fund to help rural communities transition from using heating oil to renewable technologies. To meet our national carbon reduction targets this work is a must.
As part of the project we will support 50 households, that currently rely on heating oil, to go renewable. Our focus will be on installing heat pumps and we won't be looking at using biomass to heat homes. We are working with OVESCO, a neighboring community energy co-op as part of the project.
Once we have shown that our approach works we plan to roll out an initiative to support more households.
How does it work?
The project is all about making renewable heat for your home as easy and cost effective as possible. For each household that is part of the project we will assess the property, produce technology designs and complete a whole-life financial analysis that will show you show you your best options and the savings you could make.
We will visit your home to undertake the survey and carry out an EPC if necessary. We will follow precautions to prevent the spread of Covid-19, including wearing a mask when inside your property and maintaining social distancing. We will ask you questions about your property, your energy use and will need to look at documents such as building plans and insulation certificates.

As part of the project we are developing a not-for-profit funding initiative that will look to make the installation and any required insulation upgrades as affordable to you as possible. This will be supported by the Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI), the government subsidy for renewable heat, which has been extended until March 2022.
